Assessments

I provide ADHD, OCD and autism assessment services to teens and adults throughout Arizona, both in-person and virtually.

I often work with high masking clients in the assessment process whose experiences of neurodivergence are nuanced and layered, and who may have been missed as children and misdiagnosed as adults.

I am trained in two different interview techniques and utilize several different professionally administered questionnaires. I combine these resources with prioritizing listening to your internal experience and bringing curiosity and exploration to our conversations.

My assessment approach is:

Trauma-informed

I design the assessment process to feel as comfortable as possible, providing lots of information about what to expect. I encourage your questions, needs and preferences to be expressed in a way that feels accessible to you. Your voice, autonomy and agency are prioritized and invited into our work together. I always seek to upend the traditional hierarchy between the clinician and client and instead nurture mutual respect, partnership and collaboration.

Person-centered

I am interested in getting to know you as a human and a unique individual. I seek out and listen to your internal and nuanced experiences and bring humility, curiosity and empathy to all of our encounters. I never see the individuals I work with as cases to be analyzed - I work with people, not diagnoses. An assessment is the alchemy of your valuable knowledge about your lived experience and my clinical skills and expertise.

Shaped by experience

I have been through the assessment process myself and know how overwhelming and nerve-wracking it can be. My practice is devoted to working with neurodivergent people, and all of your complexity, fear, joy, overwhelm, weirdness and any other big feelings and experiences will be treated with great tenderness, understanding and care. I try to make the assessment process as easy as possible, and approach our time together with compassion and authenticity.

The assessment process is designed to be collaborative, thoughtful, and respectful of your pace.

Over the course of the evaluation, we will:

  • Meet for an initial appointment (in person or virtually) to explore your history, current experiences, strengths and questions.

  • Complete assessment measures that help clarify your experiences and identify high masking and nuanced presentations of autism.

  • Meet again for a one-hour feedback session (in person or virtually) to review your report together, answer questions, and discuss what the results mean for you. You will receive a comprehensive, individualized report summarizing the assessment findings, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations.

You will leave with greater understanding and practical next steps, whether that includes personalized recommendations, helpful resources, or simply a deeper understanding of yourself.
